Steph grew up in Hickory, NC playing every sport she could while trying to keep up with her talented brothers, Rob and Chuck. She attended Wingate university where she played collegiate softball for the Bulldogs, frequently conducted independent research in multiple labs, and ultimately received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with University Honors. Chasing a childhood dream, Steph moved in the marine research field by investigating jellyfish musculature and receiving her Master of Science in Marine Biology from UNC Wilmington. During this time, she fell in love with CrossFit and sought out her L1 coaching certification as well as CPR/AED/First Aid certifications and began coaching part time. Steph currently works as a Project Coordinator for East Main Evaluation and Consulting, but enjoys coaching CrossFit classes at CFR after work as a way to give back to the awesome community that supports her competitive ventures! In 2017, she competed in multiple big team events including Wodapalooza, the Granite Games, and the Atlantic Regionals. Steph hopes to gain the strength and skills needed to compete at Regionals with her CFR teammates again this year!
